Chemise Bliss
Sep. 25th, 2006 10:02 amI'm working on a new chemise for my sister's Renn Fest costume - we're going to the MD Renn Fest the first weekend of October. Do I have a costume? No. But hers is half done, so I actually might finish it all before we go - hooray!
So I was getting things together last night...ironing the linen, double checking her measurements, etc. I used the ever-so-wonderful http://www.elizabethancostume.net smock pattern generator, and had a ridiculously easy time getting all my pieces "cut" out.
I never noticed this before, but I REALLY love tearing fabric. I adore having straight lines on the grain that I can just snip and rip. Usually I'll plot out my pattern pieces, painstakingly pin them, and s l o w l y cut them out making sure everything is just so. Last night? I don't know what got into me...but once I got started I couldn't stop. Just me and the fabric transported to empyrean realms where everything actually Works Like You Think It Should. Without all the "maybe I should check one more time" agita.
Kind of reminds me exactly why I love this hobby so much!
