I believe I have a problem...
A James McAvoy Problem. Not unlike my Hugh Dancy Problem. For those of you who have seen Daniel Deronda, I need not expound on the nature of this problem, especially since swooning and sighing for hours on end are not on my schedule for today.
James McAvoy as Tom Lefroy: Intensity! Passion! Masterfully acted!
I went to see Becoming Jane, and I must say...I loved it in a schlocky this-is-fan-fiction-committed-to-film-with-highly-paid-actors way. It was romantic and the teeniest bit racy. There were one or two moments that made my heart lurch, and at the end of it all I needed to firmly remind myself that it was almost complete conjecture. But, I have the happy ability to turn off the part of my brain that looks for historical accuracy when I just want to enjoy a film, so take that into consideration.
If you're interested in reading what we actually know about Jane Austen and Tom Lefroy's relationship - the Jane Austen Society of North America has an article on the subject, and a link to an interesting (my opinion) essay analyzing Jane's surviving letters on the subject along with some other primary sources.

Edited to add: I have read all of Austen's novels, as well as Lady Susan, the epistolary novella. I re-read them often, and while I love them dearly, I have not done extensive research on Austen herself.
Oh! And I'm very enamored with most of Maggie Smith's costumes! And the Countess Eliza De Feuillide!
